Kiss & Tell Presents:
Revenge of the Nerds

Thursday April 23, 2009
8pm - 2am
Guest DJs: Lauren Flax
Jakub Alexander
Resident DJ: Bethany Benzur
Hosted by:  Seze & Deanna
Party photos by: Seze

We are very lucky to present guest DJ Lauren Flax this month. She is taking a break from touring with Fischerspooner just to get nerdy with us at Kiss & Tell. Along with the incredibly talented Lauren Flax, Jakub Alexander from Ghostly International will be there to geek out to his favorite tunes. And as always our sexy smartypants resident "disco diva" Bethany will be there with a trapper keeper full of great hidden gems. A costume party of sorts, guests are encouraged to look as dorky as possible. Hostess and party photographer Seze will be there to snap your embarrassing yearbook photo. This is an after-school special you won't want to miss. Wear your glasses on April 23.

Kiss & Tell has a new venue!
Coco 66, which used to be a doll factory, then a chocolate factory, is now luring disco dollies to a life of vice. This local Greenpoint venue has delicious bar food, cheap drinks, billiards, foosball, and a pumping sound system. They even have a fancy restaurant (68) next door, if you want to wine and dine your date before the party (hint hint, fellas).

Kiss & Tell Guest DJ: Lauren Flax
With 11+ years under her belt she's played every major city in America and most across the Atlantic. Dating back to the 90's, Detroit born Lauren Flax has shared the stage with an amazing array of talent: DJ Heather, Disco D, Carl Craig, Jungle Brothers, Green Velvet, Derrek May, Kevin Saunderson...the list goes on and on. Lauren also recently DJ'd for none other than Madonna on the Hard Candy TV Special featured on the Fuse music channel. She has also earned a solid reputation for remixing; Le Tigre and Morningwood are just two examples of bands she has under her belt in that arena. Most recently her remix of HEARTSREVOLUTION's C.Y.O.A! was released on iHEARTCOMIX. Lauren's compositions may be lesser known to the dance community, as she has most often worked on film and television scores. Recently however, she has been concentrating on releasing her first single titled "You've Changed" which enlists the vocals of Sia (zero7) with remixes by, among others, Junior Sanchez and Dre Skull. Expect much more to come from Lauren Flax, including a stint as a guest band member for HEARTSREVOLUTION, who are currently on a world tour. In November of 2008 Lauren begins DJing for Fischerspooner for the entirety of their Australian tour and will continue to tour both solo and with FS throughout 2009. www.myspace.com/laurenflax

Kiss & Tell Guest DJ: Jakub Alexander aka ARE DAD
Rose colored glasses wearing Jakub Alexander shares 2 identities when he plays music for anyone, one as ARE DAD which is for everyone that wants to thrash out to everything from dancey noise rock to tribal late at night and Aarnio who is better known for his ambient melodic house to slow disco edits that is usually played earlier on, either way he plays what you want to hear if you have a good ear. If you want to read the other basic info about him here goes: he was born in Poland and grew up in Michigan and was raised on listening to mostly Sade and The Police, now he spends his days working at Ghostly International and for legendary graphic designer ISO50 and runs the very diverse electronic label called Moodgadget out of Brooklyn, I love you goodbye. myspace.com/aredad

Kiss & Tell Resident DJ: Bethany Benzur
Bethany Benzur is our resident disco encyclopedia and vinyl purist from Georgia. Recently emigrating to the Big Apple, Bethany has been ruling the dancefloor at Kiss & Tell parties with her Southern charm. The DJ nerds are regularly awed by her selections, and she joins us each month to warm you up with her mix of raunchy electro, glamorous dark disco, and soulful street funk. She is sometimes joined behind the decks by her husband (and italo disco nerd) Gabe.

Kiss & Tell Hostess: Deanna Asta
Deanna Asta met Seze, her fellow lady of the nightlife, a few years ago at The Bunker and they bonded instantly. Seze asked Deanna to help co-host Kiss & Tell once it moved to Rose Bar and she happily obliged. Deanna always shows up to Kiss & Tell with a bag full of tricks. She is our decorating goddess and makes sure everyone at the party is looking great and having a good time. She somehow convinced every guest to wear fake moustaches at the French pop party, and she dragged a vintage Nordic Track machine to the aerobics party! She holds a degree in design and over the years she has art directed/managed many design events and parties in NYC through her previous employment with Core77.com. When she's not enjoying the nightlife she's busy earning her second degree in Psychiatric Nursing.

Kiss & Tell Hostess, Photographer, Designer: Seze Devres
Seze Devres started Kiss & Tell as an extention of her raunchy knitting circle at Trash Bar in Williamsburg on December 7, 2005. Only a few people showed up to her party. However wiith a lot of help, support, and encouragement from her friends the party has become its own little beast. When she is is not dreaming up crazy themes and guests for Kiss & Tell she is a full time artist, photographer, designer and curator.
