You are cordially invited to toast our good friend Dave Sumner. Dave will be celebrating his 40th birthday. He is making a very special journey from Berlin to visit his first home New York City. Dave has be an important fixture to the dance community in NYC for decades. Kiss & Tell is delighted to host his birthday party and we have some very delightful surprises in store for you. Expect to laugh, cry, and dance your heart out.
Expect to hear a lot of rare house, electro, classic NYC techno, and disco. I love that most of our guests (including myself) grew up in the city. Hope to see you all at our special Thanksgiving eve party.

Function, aka Dave Sumner, should be a familiar name to anyone who's been paying attention to techno in New York City for the past 20 years. Heavily influence by the early New York rave scene (Limelight,
NASA, Storm, etc), Dave dove into production with a few releases on
Damon Wild's seminal Synewave label in the mid-90s. From the late 90s
to the early 00s, Function put out many productions on his own label,
Infrastructure. He also made an undisclosed number of the incredibly
popular, anonymous User techno 12"s. He probably made a ton of other
anonymous records too, but we'll never know for sure. In the process
he made a strong artistic connection with Female and Regis from the
UK, and formed Portion Reform with Regis, releasing a handful of 12"s
on Downwards. In 2008, Dave moved to Berlin and began to strongly
focus on the Sandwell District label, which was undoubtedly one of the
breakout labels that year, and remained in the spotlight until it was
retired in 2012. In 2013, the techno spotlight is shining brightly on
Sumner. Sumner has a residency at Berghain, a new album on Ostgut Ton
and mix CD on Fabric, and appears regularly at other huge clubs around
the world. His appearances at The Bunker over the past few years have
been legendary.

Reade Truth has been an integral part of New York’s techno community since the early 90s. He regularly performed and had residencies at the legendary clubs Limelight, Building, and The Pyramid Club NYC. Reade Truth's mixes often merge house, techno, industrial, and new beat all in the same set.
His first, of over a dozen releases, came out in 1994 on the Brooklyn underground acid label Direct Drive. Since then, his productions have appeared on Sonic Groove, Strictly Rhythm, Instinct, Pomelo, Wurst Music Co., Remains, Cut Off, Path Records and many more.
In 2009, Reade Truth produced a release on Carl Craig’s legendary detroit label Planet E Communications. The record, created in his Vienna based studio, showcased his eclectic range of influences, ranging from Skinny Puppy to Derrick May. London based techno mastermind Kirk DeGiorgio heavily praised the release stating: “there are more ideas on this EP than most producers have in their entire lifetimes.”
Recent releases have further showcased his his exploration of dark and sexually charged content. He has a new release on Berlin’s N-Syde Music imprint coming out in February 2014 and several new records to follow on White Label.
