Kiss & Tell November 5, 2008

We have welcomed back the lovely Veronica, owner of the Cititrax and Minimal Wave record labels, and DJ on long running radio show of the same name on East Village Radio. She has one of the most exquisite darkwave record collections known to man. Don't be surprised if you love everything she plays and not recognize a single song.

RJ Valeo makes beautiful electronic music which has been released on many labels, including Archipel, Moodgadget and Type Records. He rallies against the professional mainstream by embracing the 'free distribution' model for his back catalog on: He has produced large scale multimedia events through his Bushwick Art Project, and will be exploring the depths of what technology and the arts can do together with his new multi-disciplinary project, The Gestalt Foundation.  Tonight RJ treats us to a very rare DJ set of classic Post-punk, Neu Wave, EBM, Synth Pop and Industrial music.

Eddie Odabachian sank his teeth deeply into industrial music before turning to the ecstasy of house music. He recently relocated to Gotham from Boston, where he ran the Zero G Sounds record label, had a residency at The Phoenix Landing and helped start the classic underground 808 loft parties.

Kiss & Tell's beautiful resident DJ Bethany Benzur had all the DJ nerds in complete awe of her selections last month, and will be back to play some raunchy electro and dark disco. Sometimes her husband Gabe helps her pick out cool records to play at Kiss & Tell.

Ladies and gentlemen of the night, you are cordially invited to another fabulous edition of the sexy, sultry party, Kiss & Tell. This month we have a decadent Danse Macabre, on the auspicious (post election) night of November 5th at Rose Bar. We are getting a little moody, and are going back a decade or two to the darkwave beats of our youth. Thankfully we have some great music to wash away our teenage angst, and we are not alone in our bedrooms. Come to Kiss & Tell, meet like minded folks, drink delicious wine, and hear some old and new favorite songs that you can't live without. Dress up suggestions (it's fun, but not required): goth flavor, all shades of purple, black sparkles, all that glitters.

Tonight we have a wine tasting for Brooklyn Oenology Wine, who are unveiling a new vintage of Viognier with the artwork of Seze Devres on the label. Fine & Raw Chocolates will be serving up some decadent treats.

Or shall I bring you the sound of poisons?
This is rain now, the big hush.
And this is the fruit of it: tin white, like arsenic.

- Sylvia Plath

Death at midnight plays a dance-tune,
Zig, zig, zig, on his violin.
The winter wind blows and the night is dark;
Moans are heard in the linden trees.
Through the gloom, white skeletons pass,
Running and leaping in their shrouds.
Zig, zig, zig, each one is frisking,
The bones of the dancers are heard to crack—

-from The Danse Macabre by Henri Cazalis
