How many roads must a man walk down before they call him a man? Yeah, well... one thing's for sure: 13 laps around the Sun ain't shit. Not these days.
Ask your Jewish friends how they feel about their Bar or Bat Mitzvah parties and the smart ones will tell you it was an insane waste of money for something they'd much rather do now that they're actually adults who have real friends, legit taste, and can handle their booze.
Please join birthday boy Robert Gorell, Michigan cheese and vinyl expert Carlos Souffront, and Kiss & Tell favorites Mike Servito and Bethany Benzur for a night of Bar Mitzvah Disco, New Jack Swing and Late-'80s Detroit Radio Backwash, as we remix some awkward memories on this, the 20th anniversary of Robert's special day.
Both a master cheese monger and a record connoisseur with impeccable
music taste, Carlos Souffront rarely has the time to play in New
York. Hailing from Detroit, where he is a part of the Interdimensional
Transmissions crew, Carlos certainly has the talent to play a special
eclectic set for Kiss & Tell.
Dress to impress: What?!? Your mother never told you how to dress??? Put something nice on and iron that shirt!
Kiss & Tell, a monthly party at Rose Live Music in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, has been producing unique theme based events since 2007. Kiss & Tell DJs play italo, house, disco: classics and edits, electro, synth pop, homo haus, girl groups, gothypants, coldwave, new wave, and other sexy dancefloor treats.

Guest DJ: Mike Servito Mike Servito is a DJ’s DJ — a lifelong music fanatic with a truly unique ability to move a dance floor. Although Servito is a NYC transplant, his DJ style is unmistakably Detroit. Inspired by Detroit radio of the ‘80s and the city’s local DJs in the ‘90s, Servito came of age in a flourishing electronic music scene, making his debut in 1995 and immediately gaining the attention and respect of his peers and local techno heroes.
Servito redefined himself, finding inspiration in the new generation of electronic-music producers and DJs. Mike Servito was among the original UNTITLED residents, whose ranks include Matthew Dear, Derek Plaslaiko, Tadd Mullinix, and Ryan Elliott. He has played multiple Detroit Electronic Music Festivals and has held court with some of the best talent in the world, including artists from heavyweight labels such as Bpitch Control, Perlon, Minus, Kompakt, and DFA, as well as hometown legends Transmat, Planet E, UR, and Spectral Sound.

Guest DJ: Carlos Souffront
Carlos Souffront is one of our favorite DJ's from Detroit whose
impeccable taste has manifested one of the best record collections we
have ever seen, or heard. Since 1994, his taste, style and integrity
have made him one of Detroit's best kept secrets. Anyone he's played
for from Koln to Chicago would surely agree, when Carlos plays it's
more than simply "DJing." Carlos claims that he just wants "to expose
the funk and psychedelia of my favorite records in a new way", and we
couldn't agree more. New Yorkers will surely remember the time LEVELED
The Bunker at the inaugural 303 acid party back in 2006. Join us as Carlos shows us why Bunker resident Derek Plaslaiko refers
to him as "the best DJ in the solar system."

Kiss & Tell Resident DJ: Bethany Benzur is our beautiful disco
encyclopedia and vinyl purist from Georgia. Ever since she emigrated
to Brooklyn in 2007, Bethany has been ruling the dancefloor at Kiss &
Tell parties with her Southern charm and excellent taste. Even the
deepest crate digging record nerds are regularly awed by her rare
records and can be seen trainspotting her selections. Each month she
delights us with her mix of raunchy electro, glamorous dark disco, and
soulful street funk. Bethany has recently been moonlighting at The
Bunker party with some very memorable opening sets of space disco and
house. Bethany recently played at the Kiss & Tell closing night festivities of Communikey Festival in Boulder, Colorado in April 2011, alongside Kiss & Tell favorite Mike Huckaby.

Kiss & Tell Hostess, Photographer: Seze Devres started Kiss & Tell as an extension of her raunchy knitting circle at Trash Bar on December 7, 2005. At first only a few people showed up to her new cocktail party. However with a lot of help, support, and encouragement from her friends the party has become its own little monster. When she is is not dreaming up crazy themes and guests for Kiss & Tell she is a full time artist and designer. Seze's images and designs have graced dozens of galleries, record covers, posters, flyers, magazines, and web sites. She also co-hosts and photographs the guests of The Bunker, a world renowned weekly techno party in Brooklyn.
