Kiss & Tell: What's New Pussycat?
Wednesday April 21, 2010
8pm - 2am FREE

with Guest DJ:
Secrets
aka Matt Abbott [Secret Mixes Fixes/Gary Springs Hunting Club]
Bethany Benzur

[Kiss & Tell Resident DJ]

Kiss & Tell, a monthly party at Rose Live Music in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, has been producing unique theme based events for over four years. Each month Kiss & Tell invites well known electronic music DJs eager to play a different kind of set, filled with music outside of the genres they are known for.

Our DJs play italo, disco (classics and edits), party jams, electro, house, girl groups, gothypants, new wave, coldwave, darkwave, and post punk.

Matt Abbott, aka Secrets, is our special guest DJ this month. We met Matt at the No Way Back party in Detroit in 2008, and bonded over our mutual interest in psychedelic art and techno. Although Abbott is known for his techno tracks, it's his amazing sets of homemade disco edits that really appeal to the Kiss & Tell dancefloor. We were so impressed by his unique set last year at Kiss & Tell that we invited him back for this month's Pussycat party. 2010 is shaping up to be a great year for Secrets, with performances at WMC in March, DEMF in May, and a European tour this summer.

This month the ladies of Kiss & Tell will be hosting a party in honor of the fabulous world of felines. Come dressed in your PURRrrrfect party outfit: animal prints, curious cat ears and eyes, crazy unkempt cat lady looks, 50s sex kittens, bobcat boys, cheeky cheetahs, middle aged cougars on the prowl, jaded jaguars, lazy leopards, royal lions and lionesses, luscious lynx, pantyless panthers, handsome housecats, pumas, puss n' boots, tigresses, timeless tomcats...

Kiss & Tell has no entry fee, but we will be collecting kitten money for our favorite local no-kill shelter BARC.

Kiss & Tell Guest DJ: Matt Abbott
Detroit's own Secrets (aka Matt Abbott) regularly produces techno tracks under the name Vacuum, and also works with G.O.D. (Guys on Drugs) and Deathsquad. Abbott has remained a bright light in Detroit’s on-again/off-again party scene since the mid-90’s as a DJ, live act, and party promoter. Ever since his Kiss & Tell set became a Bunker Podcast last year, a lot of exciting things have been happening for Secrets. He has thrown a series of well received parties in Detroit with his Gary Springs Hunting Club collective. Furthermore, he has been producing new tracks with DFA artists, has upcoming releases on Secret Mixes/Fixes and Galaxy Sound Company, and is working on other secret projects that will see the light of day soon.

Kiss & Tell Resident DJ: Bethany Benzur
Bethany Benzur is our resident disco encyclopedia and vinyl purist from Georgia. Recently emigrating to the Big Apple, Bethany has been ruling the dancefloor at Kiss & Tell parties with her Southern charm. The DJ nerds are regularly awed by her selections, and she joins us each month to warm you up with her mix of raunchy electro, glamorous dark disco, and soulful street funk. She is sometimes joined behind the decks by her husband (and italo disco nerd) Gabe.

Kiss & Tell Hostess, Photographer, Designer:
Seze Devres
started Kiss & Tell as an extention of her raunchy knitting circle at Trash Bar in Williamsburg on December 7, 2005. At first only a few people showed up to her new party. However wiith a lot of help, support, and encouragement from her friends the party has become its own little beast. When she is is not dreaming up crazy themes and guests for Kiss & Tell she is a full time artist, photographer, designer and curator.
